My name is Kyle Horsley, I am a 26 year old software developer from Cambridge ON, Canada. I have been programming for approximately 5 years and grow more and more interested each day. Programming was not my first career path of choice. Initially I attended college for marketing and business as I thought that was the path that most suited me. While enrolled, I quickly discovered that although I like the thought of marketing, it isn't exactly the career field for me. I learned a lot and have and will continue to use that knowledge moving forward however it wasn't my passion and thus I left after my second year. After leaving college I took some quick part time jobs that would help pay the bills. These jobs included warehouse, janitorial, and office work stints through a temporary job agency.

After bouncing around a few temporary jobs I began a job with Bell Technical Solutions. This job involved me hooking up telephone and internet lines for Bell customers. It was at this job that I began to discover my spark for computers. Solving people's issues with their computers, even if it was not internet related became something I enjoyed fondly and found myself quite good at. It sparked a passion in me and got me interested in the world of programming. I then enrolled in a Technology Foundations program to gain some base knowledge and the fundamentals. I followed the next year by enrolling in the Software Engineering Program to finally pursue my passion. For me and many others, this program was challenging. So many projects and assignments in so little time. Throw a strike, working 2 jobs and a pandemic in there and it becomes clear why everything was rushed. However, in the end I think it benifited those of us who made it through. It taught me time management, problem solving, and it taught me that I have the ability to successfully complete whatever task is thrown my way. I have learned so much in so little time and cannot wait to continue my knowledge growth in the future.

Along with programming I have a fair number of other interests. I love board games, some of my favourites include SmallWorld, Pandemic and Settlers Of Catan. I enjoy sports, both watching and playing. I am an avid hockey watcher, my favourite team being the Edmonton Oilers. I also enjoy golfing and play anytime I get a chance. Although I have been playing quite some time, it does not show and is something I will continue to work on. With the rest of my free time I enjoy programming and building programs.

I hope this website can give a glimpse of who I am and what my capabilities are.
